Private Reading Intervention in the Charleston Area
Empowering Students to Become Confident, Skilled Readers
Are you looking to improve your child’s reading skills? Discover how a Speech-to-Print approach from Charleston Literacy can help!
Charleston Literacy uses a Speech-to-Print approach, called EBLI, to teach reading. EBLI is different from other reading methods. While Orton-Gillingham is commonly used for dyslexia, it requires children to memorize many rules and can take longer to show progress. EBLI, on the other hand, focuses on the 44 sounds of English through activities that focus on our foundations of oral language and speech. This helps individuals learn faster and tackle more complex words sooner. EBLI:
- utilizes a speech-to-print approach
- focuses on the 44 sounds in English
- capitalizes on oral language
- eliminates the need to memorize rules
- exposes students to multisyllabic words sooner
- teaches reading through spelling
- removes restriction of single-skill mastery before progressing to a new skill
- moves at a fast pace
- no dyslexia diagnosis required to get started
